Week One

I was not very surprised by my results with the Sporcle quizzes; among the covers I got right for both quizzes, most were either books I'd read in school or else sci-fi/fantasy titles.

It's because of that very obvious prejudice for sci-fi and fantasy that I figured it would be best if I avoided picking a resource from that genre to review (as much as I wanted to!) Instead, I've chosen to learn more about the mystery genre with the site "Stop, You're Killing Me!" While I don't really like that they update their book reviews each month by uploading a whole bunch of reviews all at once, I'm intrigued by the location, job, historical, diversity, and genre indices, and hope to look more into these as the training progresses.

I'm also choosing NPR as my book resource, mostly because I like the length of the reviews I've looked at - they're just long enough to give a good summary, but short enough that I don't lose interest :P I also love Early Word, but I already receive their newsletter and I figure something new is in order!
